Badminton Ireland are delighted to announce the Badminton Ireland Yonex Academy which will be piloted in the Dublin area.

Badminton Ireland have the vision to develop a badminton academy that provides a coaching and training environment which supports the continuous improvement of Irish players so they can compete on the World stage. The Academy will aim to help young talent develop to produce Olympians of the future to follow in Scott Evans and Chloe Magee’s footsteps. Head Academy Coach Will O’Neill will be supported by National Coach Dan Magee and a team of High Performance coaches creating an environment which can help young Irish talent succeed.

The Badminton Ireland Yonex Academy will be:

Monday 4-6, Whitehall Road BC

Tuesday 6-8, Baldoyle BC

Thursday 4-6, Whitehall Road BC

Friday 6-8, Baldoyle BC

Sunday 10-12, Morton Stadium

(Cost of the Academy will be €40 a week which includes all Academy sessions.)

Players will be accepted in to the Academy on individual merit. Over a twelve month period players will be expected to work towards meeting the following criteria to remain in the Academy (2 from 6 criteria are required):

• Badminton Ireland National Champion (All Age Groups)
• Badminton England U17 Gold Event Final or European Circuit u19 Event Medal
• Branch Open Singles Winner (All Age Groups)
• Achieve Badminton Ireland Academy fitness targets on monthly tests
• Attend training >3 a week
• Positive commitment and attitude in training based on the judgement of the Academy coaching team
