Irish High Performance Badminton

The Irish High Performance badminton system is designed to enable Irish players to develop and compete at the highest possible level.

The objective of the system is to achieve medal winning performances at European and World level.

The system is planned and managed in conjunction with the Irish Sports Council and Sport NI.

Currently the HP system is structured as follows:-

 

HP Co-ordination Panel

HP Training and Team/Tournament Selection Panel

Thomas Stuer Lauridsen (Technical advisor), Jim Laugesen (HP Coach), Daniel Magee (Assistant HP Coach - Leinster/Connacht), TBC (Assistant HP Coach -Ulster)

 

HP Management Group (Ireland)

Gordon Sim, Daniel Magee, Assistant HP coach Ulster(TBC), Cheryl Evans (admin support), Marie Weldrick (admin support).

The management group co-ordinates the following areas from its office within Badminton Ireland. 

  1. Player Contracts
  2. Travel
  3. Funding
  4. ISC/EBU/BWF/SCNI liaison
  5. Branch liason
  6. Tournament planning
  7. Training
  8. Talent identification

The HP system currently offers two levels of support

  1. Funded HP players (Contracted)
  2. Development players
