Anti-Doping Information

To all players entering tournaments in the coming season 2009/2010

Any player participating in a Badminton Ireland competition is deemed by their participation to have given their consent to take an anti-doping test, if requested to do so. There are no exceptions to this rule and any failure to comply could result in sanctions.

A player will only be asked to complete a test after their third game of the day in any given competition. Under 18's should have a parent or coach attend with them.

There are new Anti-Doping rules coming into effect from January 1st 2009, so please make sure you check the Irish Sports Council website at www.irishsportscouncil.ie  Anti-Doping Section, as it is the player's own responsibility to know what is allowed and what is not.

Other useful sites;

www.eirpharm.com (Republic of Ireland)

www.didglobal.com (Northern Ireland)

If a player is taking regular medication, this should be checked. There is a special form needed for those taking asthma medication - TUE FORM (Please make sure you have an up to datw signed form sent to the Irish Sports Council and a copy to Badminton Ireland. From January 2009, this form will have to be accompanied by a medical file.

Should any individual have a query regarding the above, please do not hesitate to contact me at CLOAKING or on 01.8393028.
