News from the West; Tom Hehir

County
Development



Tipperary/Limerick

I will be working mostly in these two counties

Last season was Galway/Mayo

 

Limerick:

  • Contact All Clubs to check that they are reopening
  • Limerick has one Juvenile club
  • Set up Juvenile Committee
  • Targets 3 new Juvenile Clubs
  • Run a Juvenile Co. Championships U 13/15
  • Set up 2 new adult clubs (with Limerick L.S.Ps)
  • Run an Introductory and Level 1 coaching course
  • Work with Limerick City and County Sports Partnerships and Education centres (Grants, Coaching Courses, Workshops plus W.I.S.)
  • As they will have their target areas
  • Run Buntus blitz days (funding)?
  • Get Limerick to enter schools competition
  • Sign up 3 schools to T/Y Module
  • Visit all clubs in Limerick
  • Help organise events for N.B.W.
  • Attend County Association meetings
  • Set up a new members night. (First club night of each month, where club members will be on hand to welcome new members)  Radio, Papers

 

Tipperary

  • Contact all clubs at start of season
  • I will run an Introductory and Level 1 coaching course September/October
  • Run Buntus Blitz days?
  • Set up of a juvenile squad with the help of Kenny Franks
  • Set up a Juvenile League
  • Set up 2 new Juvenile Clubs with the help of Tipperary Sports Partnership and the Co. Assoc
  • Set up 2 new Adult Clubs (As above)
  • Visit all clubs in Tipperary
  • Sign up 5 schools to T/Y Module
  • Help with events for N.B.W
  • Hope to attend County Association meetings
  • Set up adult Blitz days Div 4,5,and 6 Fun Competition. Worked well in Galway last year

 

 

Galway

  • Contact all clubs for new season
  • Run an Introductory and Level 1 Coaching course (Sept/Oct)
  • Attend County Association meetings
  • Get 3 or 4 new clubs in west Galway Letterfrack, Cladaduff and leitir Mor.in the hope to set up a league in the west
  • Set up Juvenile League with Richard Gibbons and Mary Forde
  • Set up county Juvenile squads
  • Sign up 3 schools to the T/Y Module
  • Promote Connacht Schools Competition
  • Tactics day for Coaches (Invite coach) plus fitness evening
  • Sign up 4 Primary Schools to Schools Partnership
  • Set up P. E. Teachers group (Give them 2 evenings on badminton Information) worked well in Mayo last season
  • Help with events for N.B.W.

 

Mayo

  • Contact all clubs
  • Call to all new clubs from last season
  • Get County Association off the ground
  • Offer club structure/funding workshops to new clubs
  • Run an introductory course
  • Run 2 Coach Evenings Fitness for Badminton/tactics
  • Sign up 3 schools to T/Y Module
  • Run buntus Blitz days
  • Set up County Juvenile squads
  • Run Inter county League Mayo, Galway, Clare and Tipperary.
  • Work with mayo L.S.P. on disability badminton in Mayo. They are the most proactive L.S.P. that I have worked with. They were the main help with new clubs last season.
  • Help with Events For N.B.W.
  • Set up a beginner welcome night (First club night of each month, Where club members would be on hand to help

 

Clare

 

Contact all clubs

  • Run Introductory Course
  • Attend County Association meetings
  • Visit new clubs from last season
  • Sign up 3 schools to T.Y. Module
  • Run buntus blitz days
  • Set up juvenile League
  • Run 2 coach evenings tactics / Fitness
  • Work with Clare L.S.P. and Education centres in their target areas
  • Set up 2 new Adult clubs
  • Set up 1 new Juvenile Club
  • Help with events for N.B.W.

 

 

General Work

 

1.      Fixtures Live, help clubs.

2.      New clubs in any County (Non Affiliated Clubs Convert)

3.      Help All Clubs to Promote themselves Paper and Radio

4.      County Development Plans

5.      New county Development manuals

6.      First Badminton. T/Y module. Schools partnership

7.      Help with Munster and Connacht schools

8.      Give help to clubs that need it

9.      Promote Club of the Year and volunteer of the Year

10.  Funding, new and existing.

11.  Development Diary

12.  Reports

13.  Get lists of old Clubs in each county to see if club could be restarted

14.  Set up Coaches group in each County, That way you will see who is active.

15.  Assist with Disability Badminton in all areas

16.  E-Mail, phone, deal with all queries.

17.  Promote Kit bags to clubs and schools

18.  Development Officer Meeting once a month in Baldoyle

19.   I work 30 hours a week

 

 

September October report Tom

 

  1. Had  meetings with all 5 Co. Associations, went through Fixtures live and how easy it is to use, Told clubs to contact me if they had any difficulty
  2. Had meetings with the connacht branch and the munster juvenile committee
  3. New Clubs in Galway.  Letterfrack and Claddaduff have started playing league. Working on new club in Ballynahown
  4. Working with 2 new Juvenile Clubs in Limerick City LPYMA and Mungret St. Pauls
  5. Going to help with new club in Golden Co. Tipperary
  6. Setting up new Juvenile Club in Cratloe Co Clare
  7. Working with new club in Balla Co. Mayo
  8. Club visits to Balla, Letterfrack, Ardnacrusha, Oranmore, Ballyhaunis,GLTC, Foynes, Newcastle west, Castlebar and Crossmolina.
  9. Ran a level 1 coaching course in Galway. Ran an Introductory course in Limerick.
  10. Ran Buntus badminton in Portroe Co. Tipperary.

      Next buntus is set up for 15 th of December in the presentation in Clonmel.

      Ran Buntus Blitz day in Templemore Co. Tipperary with 2 schools

  1. Transition Year module set up in 2 schools in clare, killaloe and Lisdoonvarna 1 school in claremorris Co. Mayo
  2. Plus all the other day to day stuff
