Clubs

As the season has come to a close I have had an opportunity to reflect on the season gone and have decided to turn my attention to the season ahead.  I know many clubs will use the summer break as an opportunity to step back from badminton so that you have the energy to face the new season with plenty of vigour.  However as your development officer I am using the summer to plan ahead for the coming season so that I can hit the new season running.

I am very conscious that since assuming this role I have not had the opportunity to meet with every club.  It is fair to say that I have focused my attention on other areas through varying programs and initiatives that we run and I possibly need to play a more active role in supporting our existing clubs.  This is something that I would dearly like to rectify for next season.

I have a numbers of ideas of how I hope to go about creating a more visible and active role for our existing and new clubs and would relish the opportunity to have a chat with you about these ideas and possibly get some advice from you about how I can support you better.

Some of these ideas are outlined below;

·         Creation of a County Club Development Network

·         Creating and supporting Club School Links

·         Implementation of Juvenile Club Initiative

·         Back to Badminton Initiative

Over the coming weeks I hope to have more information on some of the ideas outlined above.

I look forward to working with you in the 2009/2010 badminton season.

Rachel
