Sinead Chambers at the Slovak Badminton Open - "Just to keep you up to date with how I'm getting on. I won my first round of Qualification against Poland's Emile Pocztowiak 21-7 21-10. I was really pleased with the way I played and dominated the match from the start, playing my attching style. Up next was Kamila Augustyn, again from Poland. This match was a lot different from the previous one, as I was playing an experienced player who has been on the tour for 10 years, who qualified for the last Olympics and is Poland's national champion. Despite all of this, I went into the match knowing I could win, if I took control of the game and didn't let her into her comfort zone. However, this is easier said than done! I started very well, with it being all square until she led 11-8 at the break. The pace at which she played at was far too quick compared to what I'm used to and I found it awkward playing against another lefthander. Final score was 21-12 21-10. I felt I played well and kept fighting until the end, but her experience showed. I can take positives from this game and also things that need to be better. Up next is the doubles :)." |
