Saturday, 22nd May Sam & Chloe Magee are through to the final of the Spanish Open having defeated Till Zander and Gitte Koehler (Germany) 21-13, 21-16 this afternoon (Saturday) in the Semi-Finals. The final takes place tomorrow, Sunday, where the duo are up against another German pairing; Peter Kasbauer & Johanna Goliszewski. We wish them well. Earlier this morning, Sam and Chloe continued to progress with a 21-11 17-21 21-12 win over Jose V Martinez & Ana Maria Martin (ESP) in the quarter finals. Tournament Software Link Friday, 21st May In the Mixed Doubles, Sam and Chloe Magee’s first match was against Marcus Ellis & Marina Agathangelou (ENG). The Irish pair raced off to a 1st set win 21-8. In the 2nd set Sam and Chloe went 14-9 up when their opposition retired. Tomorrow morning (Sat), the pair take on Jose V Martinez & Ana Maria Martin (ESP) After this win, Chloe was back on court in the Women's Singles against Linda Zechiri (Bul), seeded 3, but was defeated 17-21, 13-21. Earlier this morning, Chloe Magee won against Nesilhan Yigit (Tur); 21-13 21-7. Tony Stephenson took on Christopher Heiniger (Sui) last night winning the 1st set 23-21. Tony lost the 2nd set 21-12 and unfortunately had to concede the 3rd set after damaging his ankle (21-0). Tony will not be able to play in the Men’s doubles with Sam Magee later today due to his injury. Tony won his 1st round singles against Adrian Corrales(ESP) 21-13, 21-13 on Thursday, 21st May |
Sam & Chloe Magee have won the final of the Spanish Open beating German pairing of Peter Kasbauer & Johanna Goliszewski 21-11, 21-9. This is a huge feat for the Donegal brother and sister combination and is a testament to all their hard work.
